Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, Celebrates National Sports Day

National Sports Day was celebrated in Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town on 29th August 2019. Through a special assembly the students were enlightened about the significance of National Sports Day, the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand, the most respected legendary figures in Indian & World hockey. The Sports Captain Gulnoor Singh of XI in his speech stated that Major Dhyan Chand is a live example of true sportsman spirit & patriotism who brought gold medals in 3 Olympic Games in 1928, 1932 & 1936.

An assemblage of events took place in the school both for boys & girls viz 100 m, Tug of War, Volleyball, Basketball etc. for junior as well as senior students & class activities of classes 1 to 5. An Oath Taking Ceremony was conducted in the school in which Principal, Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill, read out the Oath followed by Sports Teachers, other teachers and the students of senior classes.

Besides, the students also viewed the live broadcast of the Fit India Movement launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 29th August 2019.

All in all, it was an enlightening day for everyone.
