Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town organizes Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Ninth Inter School Shabad Gayan Competition

9th Inter School Shabad Gayan Competition was organized by Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town on 25th Oct., 2023 in memory of a great visionary Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna former Gen. Secy. Around 20 teams from the city participated and showcased their musical skills.  Each team comprised of 6-8 participants.

General Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna graced the occasion and the programme commenced with recitation of shabad followed by lamp lighting ceremony by the distinguished guest General Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna & the family members.

Shabads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were recited & the atmosphere of the school was pious.  The contestants recited shabads like ‘Jup Mun Har Har Naam Nidhan’, ‘Har Ko Naam Sada Sukh Dayi’, ‘Thakur Binti Karan Jan Aayo’, ‘Mohan Neend Na Aawey Hawey’, ‘Har Jan Bolat Sri Ram Nama’, ‘Jap Mun Jagan Nath Jagdeesro’, ‘Man Japoh Ram Gupal’, ‘Har Charan Saran Gobind Dukh Bhanjana’ etc.

 The participants gave a splendid display of Gurbani recitation in Raga Bilawal, Raga Mallar, Raga Sarang, Raga Dhanasari, Raga Parbhati Vibhas, Raga Maru etc.

  The competition ended with recitation of ‘Har Jeeo Nimaneya Tuun Maan, Nachejayan Cheej Kare Mera Gobind Teri Kudrat Kao Qurban’. Gen. Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna gave away the prizes & proposed the vote of thanks.

The Prize Winners are as follows :-

 BCM School, Chandigarh Road won the 1st Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 11,000/-)

  Baba Isher Singh Public School, BRS Nagar grabbed the 2nd Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 5100/-)                                                        

 DAV Public School, BRS Nagar & Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Model Town Ext. – D. Dugri Road, clinched 3rd Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 3100/-).

 Three Appreciation Prizes were given (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 11,00/- each). They are as follows:

a)       GMT International Public School, Pakhowal Road

b)      Springdale Public School, Sherpur Road

c)      Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Road

 

Besides, all the participating teams got cash prize of Rs. 1100/- each.
