GURU NANAK INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, MODEL TOWN organizes Annual Function
Guru Nanak International Public School wore a festive look on the evening of 24th November 2023 as the Annual Function with the theme ‘Unleashing Creativity - the 21st Century Skill’ was organized with great fervor and enthusiasm at Sant Singh Gujarkhani Auditorium, Guru Nanak International Public School, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble S Rupinder Singh, PPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Ludhiana, graced the occasion. Er Gurvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary, S. Jasvinder Singh (Advocate), Manager & other members of Management, distinguished guests, parents of the students and alumni of the school were present on the occasion.
A flower bedecked path led to the stage where the function was to be held as the dignitaries & parents took their seats. The floral welcome was followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp. The evening started with the Shabad recitation to seek the blessings of the Almighty followed by the Welcome Address of the Principal, Mrs Gurmant Kaur Gill.
The Gala brought to life the colours with glittering bonanza of dances, songs, choreography, plays and orchestra. Around 552 students staged their performances and enthralled the audience. The cultural programme started with a mesmerizing performance by School Orchestra which was a blend of Indian Classical and Western instruments which was followed by ‘Ganesh Vandana’, a dance to pay respect to Lord Ganesha. Over 200 students of Pre-Primary Wing presented ‘Dance on Seasons’ highlighting how humans have disturbed the cycle of seasons and spread pollution all around. They laid emphasis on the need to protect and save Mother Earth.
A Choreographic Presentation by tiny tots on ‘Monuments’ gave a virtual ride to the audience showing different monuments of India through the medium of different dance performances like Durga Puja, Lavni, Kalbelia & Bhangra. The students also narrated the success story of Chandrayan- 3 and the proud achievements of being the first country to land its space vehicle on the South Pole of the Moon. The students showcased their talent in singing with a Qawwali on cultural diversity of India. The students of Primary Wing walked the ramp wearing costumes of different states of India laying emphasis on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity.’ A Power Point Presentation of school's Annual Report for the session 2022-23 was presented which navigated everyone through the achievements of GNI cons.
A solo song 'Unstoppable’ enthralled the audience echoing the message that there is no limit to what we can achieve if we have unwavering grit and determination. A play in English, ‘The Beggar’, focusing on the theme that kindness and compassion have the power to transform people was also presented. The young actors gave the message that there is always hope for a renewed and better life if one gets warmth from the fellow human beings. The soulful voices of GNI studio let the audience’s feet tapping with their medley of Sufi songs. The folk dance ‘Ghoomar’ was a cultural delight wherein the swirling movements of veiled Rajasthani dancers in their flowing ghagras fascinated the audience with their graceful movements.
The rendition of the song ‘Pasoori’ by the students contributed to a delightful performance leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The young students’ narration of the sacrifices made by the four Sahibzadas also evoked deep religious sentiments. Through the medium of Punjabi Play, ‘Mata Gujri- Saka Sirhind’, the tale of valour of sikhs was narrated highlighting the sacrifices made by Mata Gujri Ji and her undying spirit to boost the morale of sikhs during the trying and testing times. The senior students brought forth Punjabi essence with their performance featuring Live Luddi, Giddha and Bhangra and filled the hall with steadfast energy. All the performances presented by the students received a huge applause.
In the end, the Chief Guest encouraged the students with his words of wisdom and appreciated the schools’ efforts in coordinating such programmes. The annual event ended with the Vote of Thanks by General Secretary, Er. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, wherein he thanked the Chief Guest, Principal, faculty and students for putting up such a wonderful show.
