‘Teej Mela’ was organized by Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town
Festivity and vibrancy was witnessed at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town as ‘Teej Mela’ was organized by the Pre-Primary Wing on August 9th, 2024 (Friday) to celebrate the festival of Teej. The whole wing was beautifully decorated and wore a festive look. The students and staff members looked vibrant in their traditional Punjabi outfits. The little girls & boys presented the perfect picture of Mutiars and Gabrus of Punjab. A small cultural programme that was presented by the students spoke volumes about their enthusiasm. Swings, games and mehandi were put up for the students and staff. Everyone relished kheer and malpuras. Traditional articles like bagh, phulkari, charkha, pakhi, chajj etc. were also put on display. Tavleen Kaur was chosen as Miss Teej.
Overall the day was full of gaiety and zestfulness.
Principal Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill apprised the students about the significance of the festival. She remarked about the socio economic importance of Teej and laid stress on the need to remain in touch with the rich cultural roots of Punjab and the significance of preserving it. Headmistress Mrs.Navjeet Kaur Pahuja, Co-ordinator Mrs.Abhineet Kaur Sarna and other senior staff members joined the children in the celebration.
