Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town organizes Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Tenth Inter School Shabad Gayan Competition

10th Inter School Shabad Gayan Competition was organized by Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town on 25th Oct., 2024 in the fond memory of a great visionary Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna former Gen. Secy. Around 21 teams from the city participated and showcased their musical skills.  Each team comprised of 6-8 participants.

The Chief Guest of the day was S. Harmohan Singh Sarna, Member of Guru Nanak Education Trust. General Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Manager S. Jasvinder Singh (Advocate) graced the occasion & the programme commenced with recitation of shabad followed by lamp lighting ceremony by the distinguished Chief guest, General Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Manager S. Jasvinder Singh (Advocate) & Principal Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill.

Shabads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were recited & the atmosphere of the school was of peace, tranquility & humility. The contestants recited shabads like ‘Mohan Neend Na Aawey Hawey’, ‘Har Jan Bolat Sri Ram Nama’, ‘Har Charan Saran Gobind Dukh Bhanjana’, ‘Shubh Bachan Bol Gun Amol’, Bolo Bhaiya Ram Naam Patit Pawano’ etc.

 The participants gave a splendid display of Gurbani recitation in Raga Bilawal, Raga Mallar, Raga Sarang, Raga Dhanasari, Raga Parbhati Vibhas etc.

 The competition ended with recitation of ‘Har Jeeo Nimaneya Tuun Maan, Nachejayan Cheej Kare Mera Gobind Teri Kudrat Kao Qurban’. Gen. Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna proposed the vote of thanks.

The Prize Winners are as follows :-

Guru Nanak Model Sr. Sec. School, Prabhat Nagar won the 1st Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 11,000/-)

 Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Ext. grabbed the 2nd Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 5100/-)   

 Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park clinched 3rd Prize (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 3100/-).

 Four Appreciation Prizes were given (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 11,00/- each). They are as follows:

a)       BCM School, Sector-32, Chandigarh Road

b)      Baba Isher Singh Sr. Sec. Public School, BRS Nagar

c)     Green Land Convent School, New Subash Nagar

d)     Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Dugri Road

 Besides, all the participating teams got cash prize of Rs. 1100/- each.
