Guru Nanak International Public School , Model Town celebrates Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurpurab

Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town celebrated Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism with great fervor, devotion & enthusiasm. The programme started with recital of 60 Paths of ‘Japji Sahib’ by 70 students followed by Shabad Kirtan under the patronage of Holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Around 210 students of the school attired in white sang the holy hymns describing his glory & spoke about his life. They also spoke on the significance of Gurpurab & teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, through 51 poems, 11 speeches, 15 sakhis, lectures & discussion portraying the life history of Guru Ji. The sangat made a beeline to pay obeisance to the great Guru.

Serenity floated in the air with the humming of the holy hymns & it paved the way for a very fruitful & productive day. A soul soothing Shabad Kirtan was presented by students. The highlights of the programme were Samarjot Singh of Class VII narrated a sakhi on a lesson given by Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Kurkshetra ‘Parai Karea Par Aakar Na Karea’ followed by Ravjot Singh of class IX who recited a poem ‘Nanak’ voicing out Bhai Mardana’s opinion on four udasis of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Mansifat Kaur of class IX delivered a speech on ‘Parchar Dhang of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.’ A discussion was also done by students on the topic ‘Nanak Aad Jugaad Jeo.’

The spiritual ambience of the devotional shabads rented a religious fervor in the air & the whole gathering was in a meditative mood when the school Music Team sang a shabad ‘Bhaj Ramo Mann Ram’ in Raag Kanhada.

 General Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Manager S. Jasvinder Singh (Advocate), Principal Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill, staff, parents and students joined hands in celebrating the Prakash Utsav. Speaking on the occasion, S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Gen. Secy., threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and emphasized to tread on the path shown by Guru Sahib Ji. Lastly, Langar was served to the sangat by staff and students. Such celebrations in school teach the students to respect all religions and make them feel the unity in diversity
