550th Commemorative Celebration of Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town in which more than 550 students of Ludhiana participate.

To promote & disseminate the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji of peace, harmony, togetherness, love for mankind & gender equality, Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town organized 3 day Inter School Competitions in which more than 550 students of Ludhiana participated. Today Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Sixth Inter School Shabad Gayan Competition, a part of celebration of 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was organized. Dr. Sardara Singh Johl, Chancellor Central University, Bathinda was the Chief Guest. Mrs Amrit Kaur Sarna graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Gen. Secretary S. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, Manager S. Harbhajan Singh (Advocate), Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, Principal Mrs Gurmant Kaur Gill & other distinguished guests graced the occasion with their presence.

Around 34 teams from the city participated and showcased their musical skills. Each team comprised of 6-8 participants. Shabads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were recited and the atmosphere of the school was pious.

The programme commenced with recitation of shabad. The contestants recited shabads like 'Chet Basant Bhala', 'Rang Rata Mera Sahib', 'Main Banjaran Ram Ki', 'Saajan Des Videsiyare', 'Aaape Rasiya Aaap Ras', 'Tau Darsan Ki Karo Samayee', 'So Kio Visare Meri Mayee', 'Gur Taar Taaran Hareya', 'Kaun Janeh Peer Parayi' etc.

The participants gave a splendid display of Gurbani recitation in Raga Sarang, Raga Ramkali, Raga Tukhari, Raga Siri, Raga Tilang, Raga Bhairon, Raga Gaudi Bairaagan, Raga Aasa, etc.
The competition ended with recitation of, 'Sun Naah Piare Ik BenantI Meri' (Raga Tukhari).

The Prize Winners are as follows :-

Springdale Public School, Sherpur Road won the 1st position (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 11,000/-),
Nankana Sahib Public School,Gill Park & R.S.Model School, Shastri Nagar grabbed the 2nd place (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 5100/- each) followed by 3rd position bagged by BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar (alongwith cash prize of Rs. 3100/-).
Amrit Indo Canadian Academy & Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Model Town were awarded Appreciation Prize.
Besides the first three prize winning teams, the other teams also got cash prize of Rs. 1100/- each.
